PhiTech and Syteline ERP
What is Syteline?
Syteline is a mid-sized Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software package, by which you can efficiently manage an entire global business operation. Syteline is created and sold by Infor. The latest version of Syteline (Syleline7/SL7) is created on a Microsoft SQL backend, with COM+ components in the middleware, and a Visual Basic User Layer with Crystal Reports for reporting.
SyteLine 7 is a complete re-write of SyteLine 6 from Progress to Microsoft SQL and Microsoft languages. In doing so, Infor maintained the screens users have become used to in earlier versions, even assuring that the field placement in SyteLine 7 matched the screen layouts of SyteLine 6.
Key advances have been made in the following areas:
Microsoft Look And Feel
Users who already know how to navigate in a Microsoft environment will find using SyteLine 7 a comfortable fit. They can choose the specific menu system they are most comfortable with: SyteLine 7 windows, Web Browser, or MS-Outlook. They can also create their own navigation within folders or shortcuts on their desktop.
Personalization
Users can now create their own forms, adding existing database fields or creating new fields. Field attributes can be changed dramatically, including the use of drop down lists, check boxes and other Windows standard components. Fields can be moved from one tab to another on the same screen. Users can also add objects to any tab, such as graphing elements and web pages.
Planning and Scheduling
SyteLine's original MRP engine has been replaced with an Advanced MRP Engine. This new engine processes requirements based on user-defined priority, and provides in-depth screens for review of problems and what-if analysis.
On the shop floor, Syteline 7 now incorporates an advanced scheduling engine, which can be dynamically altered, triggered by events on the floor. Setup is automatically optimized - placing like setups together or sequencing them for minimum setup - thereby increasing productive machine time.
Business Logic and Processes
The true value of the SyteLine system is its business logic. SyteLine 7 preserves the business logic of earlier Symix and SyteLine versions. Users will be on familiar ground when executing their job functions; what they do today will be what they do in the new release.
Multi-Site
Multi-site has been re-architected to take advantage of the features of Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Transaction Manager. No longer do multiple sites' data need to reside on the same premises. Sites can now be connected via the Internet and update each other either in batch or on a transaction basis.
Reporting
SyteLine 7 uses Crystal Reports for all of its reporting. This provides the user with an easy way to create or modify reports.
